Birdio

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

What this covers

This policy explains what information Birdio collects, why, and how you can access, change, or delete it. Birdio is a golf scoring and society management app, available at birdiogolf.co.uk and as an Android app. If anything here is unclear, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

Information you provide

Signing in with Google or Microsoft

If you choose to sign up or sign in with a Google or Microsoft account, that provider tells us your name, your email address (and whether the provider has verified it), and an account identifier that lets us recognise you next time. We never receive your Google or Microsoft password, and we don't request access to anything else in your account — no contacts, files, calendar or email.

We use this information only to create your Birdio account, sign you in, and show which sign-in methods are connected to your account. You can connect or disconnect Google and Microsoft at any time in Profile → Account → Sign-in methods; disconnecting removes the stored identifier. You can also remove Birdio's access from your Google or Microsoft account settings.

Birdio's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sharing a round

When you choose to share a round, Birdio creates a card image of it (your display name, playing handicap, course, date and scores) and a link to a public page showing that card, so it can be previewed in apps like WhatsApp and Facebook. Anyone with the link can see the card. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share, and you can stop sharing at any time from the share screen, which deletes the link and the image. When you post to WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram, what you post is also governed by that service's own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

Cookies and local storage

Birdio keeps you signed in using a session token stored on your device (your browser's or the app's local storage), and stores some data on your device so the app works offline. During a Google or Microsoft sign-in we set one short-lived, essential security cookie that is deleted within minutes. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To provide the app's features: recording and displaying your rounds and handicap, running societies and tournaments, sending emails and push notifications you've opted into (registration confirmations, reminders, invites), and keeping your account secure.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see your information

Third-party services we use

Birdio relies on a small number of external services to operate:

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see our Data Deletion page), your personal data is removed, subject to the exceptions described there.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time from within the app (Profile screen), or by contacting us directly. If you're in the UK or EU, this includes the rights available to you under the UK GDPR / EU GDPR, including the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

Children

Birdio is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
